Most AI products are still built around one person, one prompt, and one loading screen. This weekend, we’re building what happens next.

The Realtime Hackathon by Portal is a 39 hour online hackathon for developers, designers, and product builders creating AI experiences that react, collaborate, and evolve as things happen.

From August 7 to 9, join 150 to 200 builders from across Latin America and beyond. You will have one weekend to build a working product, not a slide deck, using AI and Portal to connect people, agents, and live events.

What is Portal?

Portal is a developer platform for adding realtime capabilities to an app without building the entire infrastructure from scratch.

It gives people, AI agents, applications, and live data sources a shared way to send and receive updates as they happen. With Portal, you can build features such as live chat, presence, collaborative cursors, agent activity, location tracking, audience reactions, and notifications.

That means you can spend the weekend working on the actual product experience instead of figuring out how to keep every user, agent, and screen in sync.

What could you build?

You could create:

• A multiplayer AI workspace where people and agents research, write, or design together
• An AI operations room that monitors live events and coordinates several agents
• A collaborative canvas where every participant can see changes as they happen
• A live map where AI reacts to movement, deliveries, incidents, or community reports
• An interactive stream where audience reactions influence an AI host
• A realtime voice experience, game, marketplace, or social experiment
• Something so new it does not have a category yet

Every eligible project must include an AI capability and a meaningful Portal powered realtime interaction between separate users, clients, agents, or live data sources.

• Team matching for solo builders
• A live Discord showcase featuring the top five projects
• A permanent gallery showcasing the projects
• US$800 in cash prizes

You can participate solo or with a team of up to four people. Projects and demos may be submitted in English or Spanish.
